Illustration & Print Design · 2025
This illustration originally began as part of a test brief during an application process. Although the project didn’t progress further, I decided to revisit the artwork and explore its potential as a standalone design concept.
The original brief challenged candidates to interpret a theme through a single illustration. After completing the drawing, I continued developing it independently, refining details and envisioning how it could live within a real-world context.
To give the artwork a fuller identity, I developed a book cover design and created matching floral endpapers using my own pattern designs. This approach transformed the piece from a one-off assignment into a cohesive exploration of illustration, layout, and decorative design.
Reframing the project through the lens of a self-initiated challenge gave me space to experiment with composition, color, and texture more freely. The final result now stands as a thoughtful study in book aesthetics, merging illustration and pattern design into a unified narrative.
