Floral Pattern Collection Hero Image

Overview

A floral pattern series consisting of six hand-drawn patterns inspired by botanical details, mixing organic shapes with geometric compositions.

Process

This collection started with classical floral patterns in mind, exploring how the organic nature of flowers can be iconic and bold when represented through the rules of repetition, symmetry, and geometric structure. The process started with selecting the flowers I wanted to include, sketching them by hand, and considering how their shapes could interact within each composition. I explored a range of floral forms and layouts, focusing on balance, flow, and harmony across the series. My goal was to create a unified set in which every design feels distinct while still working together as part of the same collection.

Therefore, each composition offers a slightly different approach: one features an ivy-like structure repeating in a complex shape, while another is a lily representation that is symmetrical and strictly ordered. Organic tulip forms follow the lines of the background pattern, and the poppies are meant to resemble a field while remaining repeating and controlled. The other designs continue this exploration through additional floral variations and structural approaches. For the color palette, I chose soft tones that complement each other, leaning heavily on earthy, calm neutrals. Most of the flowers use complementary colors against their backgrounds, with red used only in the poppy design to create contrast and visual interest, both within its own design and across the overall collection.

The set includes six complementary floral patterns that can be used across products such as stationery, packaging, textiles, wallpapers, and surface design collections.
