Wandering Cat Companions Illustration Series

Overview

A series of illustrations exploring the quiet, tender, and sometimes mysterious bond between cats and humans. Each piece reflects the subtle companionship and gentle narratives found in everyday encounters.

Process

This project grew out of my growing collection of cat photographs, a natural consequence of living in Istanbul, where cats are an inseparable part of daily life. I wanted to reinterpret these captured moments through illustration, focusing on the unique personalities of the cats as well as the unspoken connection they share with the people around them.

The compositions were designed to feel slightly mysterious, as if the cats are guiding the viewer toward places or stories not yet revealed. This sense of quiet curiosity shapes the mood of the series. To support the dreamlike atmosphere, I worked with a soft, muted color palette that complements the gentle, narrative tone of the illustrations.

As part of the project, I created mockups of the artworks on postcards and bookmarks to explore how they might translate into tangible products. This is an ongoing personal series, and I plan to continue expanding it, with the intention of eventually offering printed versions in my shop.
